Monsters.

We Looked For Them Under Our Beds,

They Made us Want to obey our parents,

They Haunted our Dreams.Monsters.

Eventually, We Stopped checking for them under our beds, and stopped fearing our closet doors.

And, With that, We suppose our monsters are gone. Like childhood toys, just sort of tossed aside.

But when We lie awake at night, feeling empty, or drowning in regrets, or seeing the hurt in someone’s eyes when we’ve lied to them, Are Our Monsters Completely gone?

no.

They Aren’t Under our beds, waiting for the lights to go out so they can creep into our dreams, and they aren’t in our closets peeking at us through the cracks under the door.

They’re more subtle now, In the liars kiss, and eveury faked smile.

They’re Inside of Us, and we’re all just a bunch of monsters.

Yet each man kills the thing he loves
By each let this be heard
Some do it with a bitter look
Some with a flattering word
The coward does it with a kiss
The brave man with a sword”
